Prize Of Labour Glory Named P. Angelina.
Female Tractorist of the Year, so to speak. I actually found one of these. It weighs a ton, and came with a photo of the namesake (with her two HSL's), a ministry letter of award, and the diploma in a bifolder case. It's slick. I'll photograh it when I get a chance. Here's the description in Russian from the "a-z" Russian info website:
Ежегодно десяткам лучших женщин-механизаторов сельского хозяйства, победителям социалистического соревнования вручаются призы трудовой славы имени П. Ангелиной. Среди награжденных-представительницы всех союзных республик, многих краев и областей страны. I don't think I'll keep it since it's not really what I collect. Still, it's a very cool labor award. ...Brian |

Pasha Angelina
Today I just happened to be reading the MONDVOR article on the HSL title and noticed the following paragraph:
In 1947 the Title of HSL was awarded for first time to a large group of collective farmers with high harvest indices, including P. N. Angelina, the organizer of the first female tractor brigades prior to the beginning of the war. I presume this is the same woman, making her one of the very early female recipients of the HSL. That's the one...
That's the namesake. She had two HSL's, and I believe died (cancer?) in the late 50's while still under 50. The prize was given to something like under 100 women per year. It was linked to both the Ministry of Agriculture and a well-known Soviet women's magazine. I don't know when this prize was instituted, but the one I picked up was for 1973.

Here is a period photograph of the award and its recipient, Luiza Tskarozija.
