1972 Olympic Games Participant Badge.
I believe this is a Olympic Games Participant Badge...
I saw different years for sale... I was wondering who would receive this badge, how rare is it? This one holds a special value since this is for the 1972 Olympics!!!

HuliganRS,
This badge is part of a set that was given to every member of the Soviet delegation to an Olympic Game. This is the "delegation badge" which came with individual pins for each sport the Soviet team competed in (basically: all). The set came in a box. I think I have pictures of old sets somewhere. Some former Soviet republics keep issuing sets for the Olympics (Russia and Ukraine mostly). Marc |

Guys,
I finally got around to cleaning up (some of) my hard disk, and found the picture I was looking for. This is what the complete set looked like in a custom box (Munich 1972 in this case): 1. Team Participant's medal 2. Delegation Badge 3. NOC Pictogram pins for each of the sports in which the Soviet team competed Other Eastern block countries were doing fairly much the same; for instance Bulgaria issued its own NOC sport pictogram pins for those in which they competed. Re: 1972 Olympic Games Participant Badge.
$2 well spent on the forum marketplace.
These Badges are well made, heavy, multi-piece construction. The full number produced and issued is unknown but fielding 370-some athletes will have taken a serious number of participating support staff and "minders".
