Doug,

Can you actually prove that this cap was NOT used as dembel?

cap

marc,

One of the basics in any argument is that you can not prove a negative.

Can you PROVE that there is not a Volga car orbiting the sun? Since you can't, does that mean there IS one orbiting the sun?

The cap is like hundreds I have seen at tourists sites in Moscow, St.Peteresburg, Kiev, E, etc.

Your analysis would allow ALL the junk e-bay caps we have had on the "Ebay Jokes" thread as dembel! Since they can be "anything" then they all are ok.

Its NOT a dembel cap, its made to be flashy so tourists will buy it. To say it is not this, to go against all the evidence, puts the burdon on those who think it IS dembel to prove WHY (why a dembel trooper would change his RANK with a wrong cap badge and take insignia from the NAVY for the brim!).

You can think what you wish, but as I said before, this kind of thinking is why all those sellers of junk that we make fun of here are able to stay in business. Its sad that the same type of thinking is now on this website. To be honest Marc, i would sort of expect it from those who are novices and are adding to this thread, but you have had some dealings with soviet uniforms and I would think you would be a bit more critical of such an item and claim.

dembel cap

Marc,

Can you actually prove this cap is NOT dembel?

This is what I mean; if we accept all caps as dembel, then let the flood begin of people with "dembel" hat collections!

Well Doug,

fortunately the cap I own wasn´t sold to me as that one... The difference between your cap and the one you showed is that mine looks way more "dembel". :D

BTW, did former NCO "dembelied" their uniforms as well? If so, then it could be from one! I just ask since I refuse to believe it´s not- I have had this cap since long ago and makes me feel very deceived to see that the piece which I started my collection was just crap...:(
