I do not have any pictures of the Estonian State Prize medals, and I have been looking in this Estonian Soviet Encyclopedia. They refer to recipients of this medal, but no pictures or anything of the medal itself. I will keep my eyes open.

I still consider the HSL rare and at a bargain price compared to some.

A great looking order, simple but striking and with a design which is just so soviet.

At 20,000 it cannot be compared to the hundreds of thousands dished out order of Lenins.

I have to admit it being given for a quota base, and pig farming at that, does tend to give it a lesser image

I totally agree with you, and many collectors are also starting to realize this, so this medal is going up fast.

Offered for sale for a LOOOOOOOOOOOOng time by a very known dealer. Since I don't read Russian I have to say that it is unusual to see the citation, as reflected with the seller's description:

"For outstanding achievments in development and production of new types of nuclear weapons, and also nuclear submarines and military navy ships, equipped with these weapons, and upgrading with them ships of Navy Fleet of the USSR."

I had to share a few pic's of one of my latest items. My first (perhaps last...) Hero of Socialist Labor (Labour for us english :-) )...

It's a cased example...I love it!!!

Hi Collector Friends, After reading a lot of messages in another subject group about Heroes Of Socialist Labour I have to
show these award certs. To a woman in 1948, first the usual
Order book with Order of lenin and HSL and then the little HSL book. Just wonder is there anybody out there who could translate the words in the HSL booklet (if they are readable in my scan ?) I think she got it for some good harvest of some kind in 1947 ? potatoes ? my Russian sucks really...

This is HSL medal belonged to 3 times recipient of State prize, People's Artist, soviet Estonian composer Eugene Kapp.
