Polish Energy Industry high-grade uniform.
It's not an award, but still worth seeing:
Energy industry highest grade (general equivalent) official uniform. According to the previous owner it is supposed to have belonged to the head of one of the power plants, however, compared with miners' ranking system (which is visually the closest from the ones I know) it could be something like secretary of the state in the Ministery (One grade below vice-minister). Altough energy industry uniforms are one of the more common non-military polish uniforms, this is the first this high rank uniform of this service I have seen (even on photographs). trouser stripes are velvet, as well as cap band and collar tabs. The gold general zig-zag (wężyk) motif is embrioded. Intrestingly, the rank badges on the cap ar mounted upside down. The akselbant is of general type as well, buty it's gold with electric power-related ornaments. The ribbons are interesting: 1&2:Polonia Restituta (officer and cavalier cross),3: silver cross of merit, 4&5:XXX and XL anniversary of the PRP - quite standard decorations, but then: 6&7:For merits for state defence or fire department - silver and bronze; 8:For merits for the ministery of transport (silver); 9:unknown (could be merits for energy industry - it had no official ribbon bar, but the ones used most commonly had much of a yellow colour on them.); 10 GDR merits for energy industry - bronze(gold?) At first I planned to sell it, but I will probably keep it. |

Cool. I've always found Polish stuff interesting (perhaps because I'm Polish). How old is this set?

To me as Polish the polish stuff is also interesting, but ussually only that from before 1960. Unfortunately, lately the uniforms from 1952-56 period have become so expensive, that I will most likely resign from expanding my polish uniforms collection. |
