As far as I know, copyright is with the creator of the photo until he/she dies + 70 years or explicitly gives it away to someone else. Just owning the paper photo does not mean you automatically own the copyright.

I would also like to hear the reason Slava 1 Class keep adding his watermark to photos and I do not see how the collecting community would benefit from this.

I do not know about any cd. If I were looking for photos I would still be interested in a cd, with or without watermarks, rather than browsing hundreds of threads to gather them.

In my humble opinion, it would have been better and more useful to add the text "From the collection of X" so that anyone who is interested in further information knows who to contact rather than just a cryptical sl1c. It would also make it obvious that the photo itself is in a collection and thus the owner of the photo does not necessarily want it to be spread without a linkback to the source.

I never had any doubts in you. For every thief there are 10 times as many people willing to buy stolen goods, if given the right deal.
