Re: Fake Academy Badges
I see the middle one in the picture, very often on ebay and in mint condition. And I even have one and seems like it's a 80s or 90s (92-99) type item.
I haven't checked Avers8 but Igor says: "Military School graduate badge, 1970s-80s. Brass, enamels. This unified type badge was introduced in 1957 and used until the collapse of the Soviet Union. Comes with original cardboard issue case (while supply lasts). Excellent condition. Includes original screw plate showing the late star-shaped mark of Pobeda Factory. See Figures 320 - 323 in Borisov's "Badges of the Soviet Armed Forces, 1918 - 1991". " So I'd guess it's something different from the two, rhomboid badges to the right (in your (very helpful) image).

Re: Fake Academy Badges
I have 25 of the middle ones in their boxes which are unissued. They are fairly abundant and I think I paid at very most 50 cents each for them (delivered) 2 or 3 years ago.

Re: Fake Academy Badges
It's not so much a matter of what is correct or not in this case, but that there are several English language texts that have this same order of these badges. They suggest an aberration of the standard for some time. That is a bigger problem and one harder to fix than it seems since we have understood the order as shown for so long.

Re: Fake Academy Badges
Fellas, what say you, is this a good, 80s-era academt badge?
I think so. My big concern is the blueish color of the main enamel; it's just a tad greyer in real life. PS. Looks like a carbon copy of ol' Philskiy's badge on page 8 of this thread. For $6 from ebay I ain't complaining.

Thanks for your answers,
lets go one step forward in the discussion. These are the main versions/variations of the badge I recognized. I am not sure if all are original or fakes. I will post pictures in the next days. Variations: 1) Badges with years on the front a) separate shield b) shield part of the badge 2) Badges with CCCP on the front a) shield part of the badge 3) Unified Badges with BY a) badge made out of one piece I saw two different ways of fixing the screw and the shape of the screw. see picture best regards Andreas |
