but!

Is it real? This fellow sold a rather extensive group of individual awards about a week back, many bringing strong money. Included were T1 Nevski. T1 OGPW1, T1 OGPW2..... plus several T2's. The T2's looked legit, but I wouldn't have considered the T1's based on the small photos.
I actually asked for large fotos of the Glory 1, but received no response.... never a good sign, IMO.
So, based on the lousy photos he has shown, do you consider it to be authentic?

The same guy who is selling this one has some more pieces that look really like fakes, such as a Red Banner #250 (:weird ???!!!...) and other stuff as much suspicious as this one... I don't know about this Glory but based on the other items he is selling I would pass!

Just my 2 cents,

This is the problem with not being able to handle items and making judgment calls from photos, especially bad ones in this case. Judging from the even wear pattern and enamel, this piece looks very convincing. Another indicator for possibly being real is some meathead bent the 5 o'clock ray to test the gold content. The S/N looks like it could have possibly been struck too. Regardless I would NOT buy such a piece from ebay, knowing the seller's other details, and without a certificate. Judging from the other pieces offered, the seller knows what he's doing, thus photos of this quality for such a piece seem really wierd. There is a small chance someone could get a nice OGI for a good price, but Las Vegas offers similar deals. If you are uncertain in your judgment or want to get your money's worth, it always pays to purchase from an experienced, reliable dealer.

Paul,

From a fast look at his profile it seems he is more used to sell jeans than Soviet awards, so I really don't know if he knows what he has and I'd bet he probably is not sure if these are good or fakes, thus the bad pics...
Another example that he doesn't know what he has is the description for his Order of Zhukov...
A serious dealer would have done some research first.

Otherwise I completely subscribe your words.

I didn't research the seller, just went on everyone's comments above. How does a jeans seller end up with really nice pieces (or at least their copies) like this? Maybe he knows something about what he's offering and playing ignorant, or maybe his wares are HOT (I mean stolen) and he's fencing them.

Heating Up

To all:

The bidding war on this one is slowly picking up steam. A relatively new-to-the-scene sister collectors' site has now posted more detailed scans (obverse and reverse in the 110 KB size range).
Judging from these scans it looks pretty convincing, but as they say, "You make the call!"

As for the various conspiracy theories concerning the seller's background/motives i.e., jeans and now Slavas, who's to say that he may not simply be serving as a "storefront" for the Slava's real owner. It could well be the Slava 1st's current owner doesn't have an account with this auction site and is simply using the current seller as his consigner.

Regards,

slava1stclass

Yes, that is also a possibility not excluded from my mind (or my posts), of course.
That doesn't mean he is not selling fakes, as some of his other pieces obviously look like.
