Re: Photographs Of Recipients Of Soviet Awards/Service Personnel.
This photograph lacks any data as to who these man were, which makes me doubt they were just a trade delegation to Cuba, even though they all have civilian clothes.

They were at least parallel to the Cuban Missile Crisis if nothing else.
They are mentioned in this CIA dispatch from 7th November 1962 and were then photographed in Havana. A 100 passenger vessel, doesn't mention the number of crew.

Re: Photographs Of Recipients Of Soviet Awards/Service Personnel.
Thanks for this material. I thought that the ship name on the photograph was irrelevant, now I know it was there on purpose.
The guy on the foreground of the photograph could actually by the one from "my" photo, but he can as well be adifferent person. A pity there's no caption on the back of it. |

Re: Photographs Of Recipients Of Soviet Awards/Service Personnel.
This next snap from his album is of Aleksandr Andreevich Kotkin from the Udmurt ASSR.
Kotkin was awarded the Medal "For Bravery" on 20th August 1943 whilst a machinegunner in the 407th Rifle Regiment. The 407th didn't go east so he must have changed units. They served together in Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Mongolia, Manchuria and China.

Next is Nikolaj Dmitrievich Kornienko, photographed in Daqing after battling through Romania, Czechoslovakia and Manchuria. There was a Nikolaj Dmitrievich Kornienko in the 610th Rifle Regiment, 203rd Rifle Division (which ended the war in Port Arthur). Kornienko got a OPWII'85.
