I met this man, while hanging out at the Arizona Monument last year. We had a lengthy discussion about his expiences in Europe and the the OGPW2 he wearn on his hat. He was not awarded this order. It was given to him as a gift by a Soviet Officer he met in 1945. He was one interesting man to talk with.

Nice to hear he's still knocking about.

I'd advise that documentary to anyone who is even slightly interested in the attacks on Hawaii in 1941.

He is very spirited and active. I would not be surprised to see him still going to the monument ten years from now.

I don't believe the Soviet Guards badges given to foreign officers were meant as an award, but rather as a token of friendship.

I agree with Alexei.
Marlene Dietrich's uniform is a good example. I have a pic of it with a Guards Badge on the right side. Will post the pic as soon as I can.

I believe there was a thread where we've discussed those Guards badges on foreign uniforms, but I can't seem to fin it.
