Re: Badge "Miner's Glory".
The Third Class Badge.
Given the size and detail of these awards there is no wonder many people are confused as to their actual nature.

Shawn,
I didn't think about the "local" privileges. You may be right about it. I will try to find some information on the Russian Internet. Alexei |

Very nice docs. Now these are to the Ministry of the Coal Industry. There were several mining industries in the USSR - ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, coal, etc. Could they use the Miners' Glory awards or just the Coal Industry??

Hello,
This item just sold on E for about $20. Has anyone seen this variation or have any ideas? None of the other pictures has the hammer & sickle. Thanks, Keith |

Keith,
It's first time I see this variation. The main part or the badge looks the same as the more common variation, just the star that is attched by rivets is different. The set that I own does not nave hammer & sickle. Best, William Last edited by new world; 03-14-2003 at 12:52 PM. |

Interesting. This might suggest the versions posted here, including the set I own, are post-soviet ones.
Kind Regards, Shane Cook. |

Shane,
I have the same variation that you posted in your initial post, and my first and second class badges have the LMD mint mark on them. I had assumed this made them soviet era awards. Does the LMD mint mark mean that an award is from the soviet era? Do yours have this mint mark? My first and second class do, but my third class does not. Thanks, Keith |

Gentlemen,
I think this Order was probably missing its original star and it was replaced with a star from EM Pilotka. Alexei |

Keith,
do you have the pic of the reverse of the badge? If what Alexei is saying is the case - we should be able to observe sloppy attachments on the reverse. |
