OK, looks like there's a hope...
Pics are with captions, but I think they are different from the original ones... So: 1. 1-star general in modern(used in late 80't that is) parade uniform. They don't even give introduction date in text! 2. Lt. Colonel, service in-formation uniform, same period |

1. Modern(..) service summer unisorm, corporal. In text they say it was introduced i 80's (jacket that is). 2. Corporal, early 50's In text they sey that "gimnasterka" and art. leather boots were soviet made. Is it true? 3. Pilot-officer, coveralls + leather jacket, 50's 4.Private, Modern (...) summer service uniform. 5.Lt., summer uniform, same period as 1) 6.Officer cadet, winter work uniform, 80's. They don't explain what were the rules for wearing rank insignia on caps. |

Badges - at least some of them...
(Descriptions at the bottom should be visible) As I said - picturesare poor, and the information is far from detailed... A bonus at the end - a picture of a lt. colonel, 1972. From same picture as cuban officers posted in "cuban cap?" thread. |

Just on time! The old machine couldn't work any longer.
I appologise for posting some pictures upside down, but i hardly managed to post them anyway. Each of the pictures has some additional description, so I can translate and post them here, but they are not very detailed... They also say that untill 1951 the uniforms were same as m1936 (that is the date they give), but with modified insignia. They also say that in 1951 caps with colour bands and wings (for airforce) were introduced. And that's it for dates.... As I said - it's not of much help. After all this books are still available (altough there was only one edition in 1990/1991) and are cheap. |

Pictures
Al-Muell,
Many-many thanks for the pictures! They all are interesting, and some a complete misinformation. For example pic no. 1, which - according your book - shows a brigadier general's uniform, but this kind of general's cap never existed. Also on the pic with the six soldiers are misinformation, the first one is an early 1960's uniform, not a contemporary one. The same with the third series, where the coat of the colonel is a piece, which I have never seen, and which I guess has never existed. Anyhow, many thanks, the photo for example is very useful for me. Is it really from 1972? Thanks, regards, Sandor |

As I said, the book contains some inacurate information, so improper dating is no surprise. However, are You sure the generl's cap did not exist? There may be a mistake made by the illustrator, however, I have found out that at least some pictures were made on a base of original photographs, and I thig it would apply to all of them, but as I said - the "artist" could have made some mistakes. As for the photograph - I have made a mistake, sorry - it's 1974, at least that what's printed on the back of the picture, and since it's an official foto, it is ulikely that the date is wrong. |

The book is:
Encyklopedia lotnictwa wojskowego, t.7, Mundury Lotnicze : Portugalia, Hiszpania, Włochy, b. Jugosławia, Bułgaria, Rumunia, Węgry, Grecja, Turcja (Encyclopedia of military Aviation, vol.7, Air Force Uniforms: Portugal, Spain, Italy, former Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Grece, Turky.) 124pages, polish text, captions in polish and english(?) There are other chapters covering different countries (don't count on North Korea, and in Russia/USSR the soviet part is a compleate catastrophe...) If You are interested in this book, I may try to get a copy for You. They aren't expensive |
