Re: WWII Infantery Uniform set

Hi DougD

The most buttons do not bear stamps. Only one is stamped with 1955. But in my opinion this button was added to replace a lost one.

Re: WWII Infantery Uniform set

in post #10 the second and first picture of the label is wierd.

the stamped numbers could be Soviet in my opinion.

but the makers mark ,
eg;

1- M.v.O.
2- H.J. Kuipens : Delft
3- CODE No. T.31.8618/II
4 -MAAT 46

Is dutch !! ,, :idea:confused::laff

The Mvo in line 1 is a company name witch is known to make clothing for the dutch royal army from right after the second world war.
the name in line 2 is just the founder of the factory and proberbly on that moment kind of president to it, behind the : is the City name it was located (Delft).
line 3 is properly an item inventory fabrication number.
And finely line 4, this word set me off. i found it weird that the word size was here in dutch.
so i locked further in to it and the post is the result.
line 4 say's size 46 in dutch, (European standard size)

further more i can not tell you any about it, i must say i find it weird to see a dutch makers mark in a Soviet uniform.
i do not know if that is even plausible.

Re: WWII Infantery Uniform set

The stamps are interesting...material captured by the Germans, then captured by the Russians and had uniforms made from it postwar (late 1940's)...the large Russian number stamps seem to be inventory stamps, could be from a theater.

Re: WWII Infantery Uniform set

even if the cloth was captured by the natzi and than captured from them in to soviet hands.

i find it wierd that there is a dutch makers mark in it.
the cloth would not have been used and so there be no point to stamp a makers mark on it.
and even if it was used in any other uniform from any other army and it would have been remade into this soviet pattern coat, there would have been put a new makers mark together with it.

the only thing i could think of is that this was done in the field by a soldier (officer)
and he just used the lining from a captured uniform to make his coat warmer.
(the natzi were known to have done this on several ocations)
the only point with this is , that the inside like it is , was already done like that by the soviet fabrication.

Re: WWII Infantery Uniform set

If it's a reproduction - who could be so stupide to stamp it with a dutch stamp?

Do you need the measures of the buttons on the collar tabs?

What do you think about the jacket, trousers and overseas cap?

The shoulder boards on gymnasterka is infantry, but shoulder boards on coat - artillery or tank.
For my opinion it is a mix of war and early postwar uniform details.

Re: WWII Infantery Uniform set

The seller told me that he got the coat not together with the rest (gymnasterka, trousers, overseas cap). So the coat should be seen as a separate collectible.

What do you think about the shoulder boards of the gymnasterka? The jacket, trousers and overseas cap?

Re: WWII Infantery Uniform set

Shoulder boards are original.
Can you show more clear the sidecap inside stamp?
And also the gymnasterka pockets from inside?
I think the trousers is postwar.
