Is is a complete set of the RPL, or a mix of different periods?

Rick,
The Grand Cross set is the Sash with the Cross and the Breast Star. The 2nd Class set is a slightly smaller Cross on a neck cravat with the Breast Star. Marc, I now have all five Classes of the Order from the People's Republic of Poland. I am also working on the 1918 set.

Here's the other four classes of the Order of Polonia Restituta from the People's Republic of Poland. The reverse has the date 1944. First the
2nd Class.

Could you please explain the differences between the different classes. How do the crosses differ between the 5th, 4th and 2nd classes? Are the 1st and 2nd class stars the same?

Here are the dimensions of the crosses:
Grand Cross- 73mm
2nd class-71mm
3rd Class- 65mm
4th Class- 60mm with a Rosette on the ribbon
5th Class- 48mm

The Breast star is the same for the Grand cross and the 2nd Class. It's 80mm in diameter.

Just a quick corection: the size of the cross in 2nd and 3rd classes is the same. The difference is that the 2nd class has a star.

Attached is an early 2nd class set, made in 1945 in the USSR.
The cross is solid gold.
The star is silver with solid-gold emblem superimposed on top.

Hi All,

I recently noticed that some PRL Polonia Restituta orders differ in the luster of their metallic reverse side. Some are very smooth and shiny, while others are much more dull. To illustrate the difference in luster, in this post is shown a "dull" 3rd class. (Does this look authentic?) In the next will be a "shiny" 3rd class.

Is this difference explained by different manufacturing types/variations (as opposed to authenticity issues)? If so, what is the classification scheme and to which time period does each version belong?
