And one final closeup of the material - whatever it is. It has a texture that does not look smooth up close, but it is quite soft and warm when wearing it.

Anybody ever hear of or see one of these? I would expect to see heavier and darker ones for winter field wear.

Thank you Marc.:thumbsup After the very idea of such a thing was shot down by somebody a good while back around here, I had started to convince myself that the scarf I had was somehow a fake "addition" to the uniform coat.

I'm also impressed at how the regulations are so specific about the measurements - particularly the width. As I remember, it was actually pretty warm, despite the thin material.

That was the Soviet Union... Everything was codified to the smallest details, hence standard production (but I did not say "quality" :cool:).
