well the chin strap isn't good in my mind, and the cloth are both of a too dark shade, aren't they? the front band is medium blue instead of a clear one, the dark blue cloth is a nice thick blue but not all I've seen between 1955 and 1980'....
this one gives a better appreciation of REAl colours: in my mind they're highly unusual... I don not have the feeling it is a result of sun exposure (it is the same pale blue everywhere)

The more I look at the cap the older it seems to me; I think its probably 1955-1960; its smaller, darker ( the darker blue more common in the older wool 1950's air generals parade tunics), with the twin cords ( again, this is correct, just an older feature).
The cap is fine; its "off" in your eyes because you are comparing it to 1980's caps that were larger, had the flat cords, different liner and ,makers mark, etc. Its a good cap, a nice example. DougD |
