Yes, it's fake (or new-made) patch.
We can see that details of new-made Soviet patches (hammer, sickle, star etc.) are very accurate. This statement is true for all new-made patches. Shown picture is very representable and comparable!
PS - perhaps those bad men who produce fakes will change their technology to getting not so accurate details of patches. :thumbsdown

Some types of patches are really "thousands if not millions". But there are a lot of very rare patches (like KGB, Border Guards, etc.). It's hard to find some or these patches (I mean REAL ones) even in Russia!

They have been trying. One of the keys is posting an image that is blurry to hide the detail. Another giveaway is the thread count, color of the patch (new patches are almost always darker), and blurring of the yellow shield border. Almost every new patch I've seen has a blurred border, and the ribs in the shield are tightly spaced. The OLDER Soviet patches have a wider spacing of the ribs.
