Re: Soviet manufactured orders of other nations.

I don't see anyone from my generation or younger who seem remotely interested in anything in the past or collecting anything from the past. All the teens and 20 somethings seem to only care about i-pods or other gadgets of designer cloths. Everything seems more mediocre and dumb down. Sometimes i feel like we are entering Huxleys "brave new world".Could it be us collectors are a dying breed?

Re: Soviet manufactured orders of other nations.

From my experience there are a vast number of young folks interested in collecting. The last time I was at an event I was getting talked to about items more by the under 25 year olds than the over 40's. I started collecting Coins when I was 3 and I started buying items at auction (unsupervised) when I was 8. The younger collectors may not be in any way overt about it though. It's not really a social networking favourite. I've found that many computer games and big budget films have really opened the eyes of "children". Weren't we all children once?

There's a few youngsters here; somebody, whose name I forget, I noticed is 17.
I suspect the Type-A kids are the ones with the fancy gadgets while the nerdy types stay at home and surf the web for goodies.
BTW, CtahhR, what is in that cool new avatar of yours???? I like it!

Re: Soviet manufactured orders of other nations.

"Ceiling, Stalingrad Panorama Museum, Volgograd", It's a "factory setting" avatar for 500 posts me thinks, so all glory to the fellow who added this to the selection of user avatars (Generalissimo Art?). If I could use my own avatar I'd never be able to make up my mind as there are too many great things to have from the Order Of Kim Jong-Il to a bust of Hristo Botev. This will do just fine as I've almost always had a great interest in the architecture...
