Tal,
I think they are quite good, and present a clear danger to an unexperienced collector. However they are not made of silver/gold, fake patina is obvious, and I have never seen a screwpost base on genuine pieces. They come from Russia and the price is $15 a piece. Alexei |

First one looks pretty good to me.
What makes you think these may not be real? |

First- Eugene, why do you say they're fakes? I think they look pretty good, but I'm no expert in these. It would be nice to know what to look for though...
Second- I find the whole thing rather strange... Granted, some of the republic badges may be worth something, but the common "Verkhovni Sovet SSSR" badge is a pitiful seller at best! I've had one that I've been trying to part with for years, but no one even looks at the darn thing! It just seems strange to me to have someone put all the effort into making a 'perfect' fake of something that isn't a big seller, though I'm sure it's done! (And look at all the fake 'common' German stuff these days!) --Dave |

Dave,
you are mistaken. The market is very good for them. Especially outside of US and particular in Russia. They are easily sold at $70-80 in Russia. There are plenty of collectors of such badges and I saw dozens of online ads in Russian internet of this area collectors looking to buy them. Even in US it's not a problem to sell original ones in this price range. If they fake Warsaw medal and Glory 3 order, why wouldn'n they fake $70-80 badge? Another US based dealer periodically lists faked badges on E at $70. Experienced collectors wouldn't buy them: |

Dave,
They do get faked very often, but most of those fakes are just collector's copies designed to dress up that genuine Marshal uniform, that every collector nowadays seems to have in his closet. Still some very good fakes exist, especially of the less comon badges. I believe the two badges Tal had posted are genuine. Alexei |

The pinback version is 100% genuine. The one shown by Eugene is completely different.
Regarding the screw back, I also think there is nothing wrong with. Both were purchased on ebay by a forum member, for a very good price - $61.00 each. Tal
