Rusty,

I've seen worse scratches.

When it comes to scratches - I don't think there's a standard or regulation in place on how deep and ugly the scratches can be :)

NewWorld:

It looks like there's a main scratch and veins as well...

I don't think it's a silver content check...

Rusty.

That is my concern as well. I know that Mondvor QA was a top notch.
It doesn't look like a patina that formed from the uniform. Its too deep.
Alexei, Art.. what do you guys think

Also, do you have to check silver by really scratching that hard.
I use to have an acid in my jewellery store where you could just add a drop to the item and wait about 3 seconds. It would soak through the plating (if it was plated) and would start bubbling. If it was a real silver all the way through, it would just sit there like a drop of water.
Neat stuff. I think I need to restock on this

I don't know where the idea of the authenticity came in?!

It looks genuine without a doubt, I'm just curious about what happened to the back.

THE SCRATCH

Here's a close-up picture of THE SCRATCH. It looks a lot worse on the first picture I posted. It is really not a big deal, somebody was doing something to it. Compared to repaired emaille, missing ribbons, dirty ribbons or what have you not even worth mentioning.

Did somebody notice that the small dot next to the saber hilt is missing? Same with redstar's. Refer to McDaniel, page 120.

This makes clear that we both have Bogdans made by the same die and the same anomalie (so far now 5 observed: 402, 474,501, 1218 and 1378).

I don't think that this is adding to the value, but just for the record and for discussion.

For the record, Bogdan 3rd Class 977 also doesn't have the dot on the hilt.

All the best,

Doug

Bogdan Khmelnitskiy 2nd class

Hello again.
I am reading PMD book on Bogdan 2nd class.

In this book Paul is saying that the only serial number observed for type 1 Var 1 is 107. What exactly does it mean?
