Bartels DDR awards

I checked my older Bartels book, it's more of a price list though. There are three maybe four possible versions in it.

a). The 1975 version, gilted without Diamonds
b). 1976 - 1987 version, Gold (333) with Diamonds ( Eight 0.1 karat).
c). And a third and fourth gilted silver or bronze version, these are wearers copys or sample specimens.

I'll try and find more details on these versions.

Eddie

Alexei,

Not exactly sure either it says zweitestücke und muster.

zweitestücke = second pieces

muster = samples, prototypes

Hard to say exactly what they mean without more info, i'll see what i can find out. As i mentioned the Bartels book i have is a very early one, not his latest. I think they are most probably the wearers copies that Sebastien mentions.
Maybe Sebastien can send an E- mail with a scan of page 79?

Eddie.

hello, here's what says the last edition:
1/ bronze gilded, 1975, 32.0x34.0mm
2/ gold 900/1000 diameter 35mm, with brillants, 1976-?
3/ gold 333/1000, ?-1989
4/ wearer copies, made of bronze and simili brillants...

I never saw any kind of samples in german auctions; Carsten Zeige of Hamburg only sold in the 2000 years the gold and wearer copies of Wili Stoph and Erich Mielke...

nice work!

Sebastien,
You did very well, great work :thumbsup , nothing much to add really.
Just a few little details thats all.

a) Buntmetall = non-ferrous. was matt gilded.
b) Polished Gold. (900) Sharper star points.
c) as above in 333 Gold
d) non-ferrous metal. false diamonds.

When it was instituted in 1976 the Titel was called just "Medal" and from 1978 the "Gold star medal"
The earlier holders were all awarded the later version too
All forms of this Medal including the wearers copies came from the same press.
Holders had to wear the award at all times.

Eddie.
