Re: Help with Bulgarian Badge Identification
Sergio, that is a great badge and doc.:thumbsup Like Esteban said, the two things go together, but the box is for something different. There are several different types of documents that I have seen for this badge (and a couple of different types of partisan badge). I'll look for the thread where I posted some other types of these documents.

Re: Help with Bulgarian Badge Identification
Thanks for your opinions, very much appreciated since I have no knowledge on Bulgarian decorations and/or badges and I bought this one just I am in the mood to put some "partisan's things" together.
Phillip, I look forward for the links you promised. ciao sergio P.S> Indeed, the box was not part of the sale, I have to presume it was used just to protect the badge during shipping. |

Re: Badge "For People's Liberty 1923-1944".
These Badges were originally created c1952 and produced by "Komun". These were originally awarded to Partisans but after reforms (c1959) became not "awards to Partisans" but signs of long membership in the "Fighters Against Fascism And Capitalism" - an organisation of which you simply had to follow the rules and pay your dues. There were of course Partisans in the movement but there were also members who were completely non-combatant.
There is an example in the collection that belonged to an Engineer who was in Germany in 1944 - not fighting against the "Fascist Machine" but completing his education. By 1954 he was a Lieutenant in the Construction Troops and maybe due to that was a "Fighter Against Fascism And Capitalism". Certainly not a combatant and not even a Communist until October 1945. These were rather liberally issued between 1969 and the mid 1980's.
