Alexei,
Thanks for the exact naming of the Orders. In the text it was actualy written in German. Seems to come over a bit wrong when trying to do a direct translation.
Are the Orders I posted of a commemerative type? They seem to be poorly made if they are official awarded items.

Eddie.

Chinese medals are a fairly new area for me, and I still can't figue out why some official and apparently important awards are so cheaply made, while some regimental pins are made like an Order of Lenin

Alexei
Alexei,
Thanks very much for the ID. :)
These items are supposed to be from someones collection so he must have had a lot of his awards on the wrong suspentions.
Do you know what they are straight away? Or do you have a reference of some sort?
I've seen one book on Chinese Medals and badges but on the web there doesn't seem to be much info on this collecting field.
It is indeed strange that some awards seem to be so poorly made. I take it buy your answer that they are actualy official Orders and medals which I posted and not commemerative, would that be correct?

BTW Alexei do you mind if I post a few more Awards for ID?
I have a few more pics of Chinese awards that need a name.

Eddie.

Eddie,

I have a book "Illustrated Collection of Badges in the Chinese People's Revolutionary Military Museum" (unfortunately only a Zerox), which is a nice reference, but very incomplete. I am also using materials of a preliminary research, done by a very advanced collector, who can read some Chinese.

I believe all medals posted so far are official, though some are minor awards. As for the quality, I really don't know. Could it be that some of them were made outside China, like early Vietnamese medals, that were made in France?

Post away more pieces, I'll do my best to id them.

Alexei

Thanks Alexei,
Do you know I am getting doubts as to wether these awards are actualy original or not.
Of course not just because of the wrong suspensions, take a look at these two.
If I have done my research right the left hand one is the Northeast Peoples Liberation Army Bravery Medal, 1948. And the one on the right hand side is the Anti-American and Support of North Korea Medal from 1951. Issued by the National Committee of Chinese People's Council.
Just one of the points I've noticed is it looks like a shovel he's carring and not a rifle.
I also think that the paint should be worn and not look as though it was done yesterday. What do you think?

Eddie.

War against Japan by 8th branch of Ji-Lu-Yu's Army region & Munitions factory badge from eastern Hua Bei province

And the last two for now.
One thing I can say about these medals is that they are on the wrong suspensions. :)

Eddie.

EDIT:

left - Medal for War against Japan by 8th branch of Ji-Lu-Yu's Army region, not sure about the suspension;

right - munitions factory badge from eastern Hua Bei province, originaly comes with a pin and chain

Medal for Exemplary Labour

Medal for Exemplary Labour during the Korean War, Liao Xi Province from the 1950s.
On the obverse it says "Resist America, Aid Korea, Protect Our Country".

Unfortunatly this medal is also on an incorrect suspension. It should be a Red Ribbon with two vertical yellow stripes. The ribbon is mounted in the form of an elongated pentagon.

I think this one is turning out to be the best one around at the moment :)
I've been looking around for a site with the ribbons pictured to sort out our problem with the wrong suspentions, but unfortunatly there isn't one or if there is it is extremly hard to find. :(

last for this time

why are there so few with ribbons and secondly I don´t think the all red ribon is wrong on many of these medals. My guess are that the are for privates and the ones with yellow stripes are for officers. They seems to be made of better metal as well.

EDIT:

Northwest China Liberation Medal, issued by Military and political Committee of northwest China, 1950

sovvisor,

That is a good point you make there about the ribbons, I have seen the same style of suspention with the red ribbon on other sites that I have found. It seems to have been used a lot on many medals.
Here is the same medal as in your post #38 but it certainly doesn't look as though it is made of silver ( different class?). And the yellow is a different shade.
