Guys,

All great ideas, I'm still trying to get a grasp on the sheer quantity of all these photographs. Last nite I spent an entire evening sorting through all the images of the Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky. Let me try to formulate a better plan of attack first and we'll see what we can do.

If I may venture a suggestion. Could you scan these photos in high resolution. The ones currently on this site are "useful illustrations", but are not very useful when it comes to the finer details. It is always possible to shrink an image; the reverse is simply not true.

A specified section of the forum could host pictures, and you might call it "The McDanieal Collection".
You could post there high resolution pictures of whatever you think will be good to see, and YOU could post pictures without the 50K limit.

I would also like to make a suggestion, if I may. Check those photos for minor variations too, even small differences in less expensive medals can be very interesting. My only regret is that I can't be there to help you sort the goodies

Guys,

The images are all grouped in big bundles wrapped in a paper wrapper. I spent today ( about 6 hours ) looking through all the images of the Order of the Patriotic War and sorting them, then scanning, image preparation, and finally plugging them into the website. They are all loose and unorganized so that will take alot of time to just find out what goes with what. A lot of these images so far are not unique. By that I mean there are alot of test shots of the same award which were then developed and the best one picked out and used for publication. All the photos used in the book are in the box it seems, as the graphic artist has some marks on the reverse of every image used in the book.

I'll try to go over each with a fine toothed comb, but my priority remains getting the blanks on the site filled in first. Given the amount of free time this is devouring, I don't know what if anything I can do in addition to this.

Just a quick note of thanks to Mr. McDaniel for the new material and to Art, of course, for working on them.

I just wanted to add my small slice of support for the ideas on utlizing the images. Even though it may take a while for Art to get all the pictures up, it would definitely be worth the wait to possibly access high-resolution images. Perhaps members could send in requests, at some point, for pictures of the more hard to find pieces.

Just my thoughts.
