On September, 29th, 1957 at combine there was a technogenic accident — because of infringement of system of cooling the capacity with highly radioactive waste has collapsed. Radioactive substances has carried on hundreds square kilometers. The infected territory refers to « East-Ural radioactive Trace ». From a radiating irradiation only within the first 10 days were lost nearby 200 person, the general number of victims is estimated in 250 thousand person, accident has been estimated in 6 points on international seven-point scale. Тecha— the river polluted by radioactive waste, dumped by combine " Mayak " which is being in territory of the Chelyabinsk area. On coast of the river the radioactive background is exceeded repeatedly. Accident on "Mayak" in 1957, called also « Кishtims tragedy » is recognized by the second accident on scales in history of nuclear power after Chernobyl accident. The question of radioactive pollution of the Chelyabinsk area rose repeatedly, but because of strategic importance of combine Mayak each time remained without attention

Robert Oppenhejmer ( Julius Robert Oppenheimer; on April, 22nd 1904, New York — on February, 18th 1967, Princeton, New Jersey, the USA) — the American physicist. Оppenheimer — the author of significant works on the quantum mechanics, physics of a nuclear kernel and space beams, division of isotopes, neutron stars. Per 1943-1945 supervised over creation of the American nuclear bomb (see Мanhattan project). Per 1946-1952 — chairman of general advisory committee of the Commission on an atomic energy of the USA, per 1947-1966 — director of College of basic researches in Princeton.
