The one I am most happy with is a Glory 3 awarded to Petr Safin In July 1944.

When on the outskirts of Brest during a heavy counter attack by the Germans, Petr removed a heavily wounded officer from the line of enemy attacking while killing 3 with his submachine gun, he was also wounded.

These sorts of citations make you wonder how many other soldiers deeds went unrecognised and how many others deserved higher recognition for their deeds in combat!:(

Anzac, is it for the Brest Fortress in 1941 awarded in 1944 or for the battles around Brest in 1944? Sergei.

Sergei, it's for the fighting around Brest in 1944 and was awarded in 1944,

Brendan:)

Nice collection! Are some of them part of a group or are they all awarded alone?

Esteban, all are individual awards. I have one as part of a group that I have not got as yet.

Quasi Documented Full Cavalier Set

To all:

In kingsnorth's recent thread "Order of Glory" he questioned what the current going price for a Full Cavalier set would be. My response was in the range of $15,000.00.

As it turns out, the below "set" recently popped up on a well-known NYC-area dealer's site. Asking price: $14,700.00. Details follow below.

For what it's worth, another NYC-area dealer is currently asking $7,200.00 for a PMD-certified mint-produced Order of Glory 1st Class duplicate.

Regards,

slava1stclass

Slava1stclass,

What is the impact on the full set price of such a rare variation of the 2nd class?

Marc,

In my personal view, negligible at best. Any complete, documented Full Cavalier set will, in and of itself, command upwards of $15,000.00 in today's market.

In all truth, the fact that this set contains a cast copy/replacement for the recipient's original Order of Glory 3rd Class should actually call for a lower asking set price.

I believe the fascination with variants/sub-variants is somewhat absurd/way overblown. If one wishes to focus on such, so be it. I for one, however, would never pay the ridiculous prices associated with same. What is of prime importance to me is that each Order of Glory in a Full Cavalier set is original - irrespective of the particular variant.

Regards,

slava1stclass
