Umalatova Order of Stalin at the Victory Day ceremonies
Hi! I was watching the video footage of the 2012 Victory Day parade from yesterday, I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the General, standing behind the President, wearing an Umalatova Order of Stalin in a higher order of precedence than any of his Soviet awards. I noticed what I think is a Border Patrol Colonel in the crowd wearing it the same way. I've attached screenshots of both. Wondered if anyone else had noticed, or if I was possibly mistaken and it was some other post-Soviet award that I'm unfamiliar with.

Re: Order "Stalin".
For me, the General wears an Order of Lenin, and, yes, some Umalatova medals.
The Colonel has a Stalin one, and other Umalatova and unofficial awards... Ch. |

Re: Order "Stalin".
I would be leaning more towards junk although I could be wrong and it may indeed be junk after all.
These are brilliant for fancy dress! Get them stuck on your Pakistan made uniforms and paint the town. That being said I do have 5 of these with documents and another 34 "Umalatova" Orders/Medals in the collection. Usually with the "unawarded" document although I do have a few "awarded" items.

Re: Order "Stalin".
Interesting that this fellow general-lieutenant chose to put some awards on his right chest... Seems like Moscow 800 years, Bulgarian Dmitrov 100 years jubilee, some Cuban award and something with a red ribbon. Is that what happens when left chest is full? :)

Re: Order "Stalin".
You're right; the General is wearing Lenin. My apologies. The Colonel, however, I am certain is displaying his Umalatova Order of Stalin above his actual Soviet awards. I thought that it might be worth mentioning here since I seemed to remember there being some discussion regarding whether or not Umalatova "awards" are actually worn.
He also has an Order for Service to the Motherland, making me immediately jealous. |
