h009291,

If you got it from a Moderator on this Forum (and I guess I know whom you're talking about ;) ), then this isn't the right section to post pics of your beautiful and original Medal...
This is the section for obvious fakes, or suspicious pieces :)

Anyway, congratulations, it's indeed a very nice piece you got there.

Just my two cents...

Dolf

Medal Belgrade Document

Hi All,

I'd value your input regarding this document. I personally tend to lean toward OK, but I prefer to double check.

Belgrade Medal exchange to Military Merit

Is that true, that Veterans after the political break between Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union in the 50´s have to exchange their Belgrad medal to a Military Merit medal?

The only details in literature I found was in the book from Paul McDaniel and Paul J. Schmitt and in the litte Herfurth price guide.

Any more information ?

regards
Andreas

Andreas,

It's a theory, and I don't believe it was ever confirmed beyond doubt.

Belgrade Type 2

Hi,
I learned how to make larger pics under 50 Kb so I'm posting my Liberation of Belgrade medal. It was discussed in the fakes section some time ago.

Re: My Liberation of Belgrade Type 2

Obverse is still out of focus and too dark.

I made slightly better pics, but there's still a shadow on them from the camera. It's hard to make pics without daylight :)

By the way, I think the medal is interesting because of the damages on the back and also the marks on the rim on the front. But as mr. Drill explained these are early post war mint production damages.
The medal measures approx 32 mm diameter and 2.5 mm thickness. It weighs around 17 g without suspension.

Thanks, Alexei. This medal is probably my favorite item from my collection.
