Here is a military one. Sorry the scan is fuzzy, I am still working on my camera skills.

Re: information on documents '#2
Hello,
This one is like the first one but lightly different. It would be interested to know if these 2 documents were printed in the same factory, or if there is one authority (union, republic level ?) which decided what kind of drawing is authorized. Andrei |

Re: information on documents '#2
And these 2 ones are similar to the third diploma but given to students of USSR and RSFSR (and not Ukraine like yours).
I know that the same type of documents existed for Kazakhstan and Estonia. For what I know, the version of this document is different for at least Bielorussia, Tajikistan and Azerbaijan. Andrei |

Unissued KGB Border Guard "Gramotas"
Well, I've been digging in my document drawer again and I found these. I haven't the foggiest where I got them, but now that I know more about what I'm looking at, they seem more interesting (to me at least).
Please note that the first two may look similar, but I'm sure the discerning eyes of our viewers will pick up on the subtle and not-so-subtle differences in buildings, factories and placements of Soviet authority symbols. The first was made in 1967 and has the KGB "excellent border guard badge" at the bottom just a few years before the change to the next type (2nd picture) which had two classes - the one pictured is the 1st class. From the markings (which I cropped out along with a great deal of formerly white border for a better view) I think the other two - next post as well - were made at the same time. You can also see an interesting trend toward moving the Kremlin tower (right side of each document) to the forefront in the 1970s versions as well as what appears to me a last minute "overlay" of a border post (left side, second document). If anyone wants translations, I'll do them, but for now this is all I have time for.:) Phillip

Re: Unissued KGB Border Guard "Gramotas"
Okay - something about a missing "security token" won't let the cover upload and after a "server error" I got the inside left and right pics of the third document. The cover is a nifty green with the state seal in gold at the top and the ribbon from the medal for "Guarding the State Border" running down the left side.
I'll forward this to Art. Anyway, I cropped the right side, obviously, to get in closer on the artwork. The rest of the page is blank. These documents are all just a little larger than my scanner size.
