i have been long enough around to see that the technique of embroidering is just the right one for this period of Russian cap's.

Sebastien means that the metallic thread used for the embroidery is NOT what it should be; gold thread should be of a richer tone, or if white, then it should be bright silver white, not in-between.
It looks like a post-soviet production for tourists, made with a brassy, lemon yellow type of thread.
I for one do not like it.

I think the crown size and shape makes it transitional, but since Marc stated a good point about the embroidery, we must also consider that it can be eventually a cap made for tourists.

please forgive for my too short sentence.

about the colour, one might say the flashlight "burnt" the colours; but it is not the case.
The cloth colours are realistics, so I can suppose the embrodery colour does appear on the pics as it is in reality. And as Marc explained it, we see a lemon colour. Metallic thread has a rich gold yellow color which doesn't fade. Metallic threads become darkish under oxydation...

I can't say at 100% it is a fake; by "gut feeling" I would mean "when in doubt I dismise"

well it looks and is of the same quality as a real one.
the only difference is the embroidering, I'll keep it on display till i have a replacement that is accepted as authentic.

Just understand that there is no real consensus here...I for one do not think it's an outright fake, but rather a depot hat, never being issued, sitting in storage in the last year of the USSR. At worst its a parts cap, much like German parts daggers at the end of WWII; original parts put together to form a hat, sort of after the fact. That's ok for display if that is all you are looking for. If you wanted a real issued Soviet Air Force Generals cap then yes, you need to keep looking.

This is a great forum (the best really), but you will often get multiple opinions on items. Ultimately you must decide which way to go for any item.

i have a big shelf display (31 caps),
in witch i try to display a wide (complete as much as possible) Scala of M69 cap's.
for this purpose it will do just fine.

i tent to lean to wards the very late (transit period) cap. that was never issued.
The construction is very well and like any other general cap, the only difference being the color of embroidering and cap peak.
i can live with both.
