Patrik,

Metallic stars were common issue; if you wanted to, you could order embroidered boards with embroidered stars at your own expense though.

This is still true today, and current RF boards with embroidered stars can be purchased in Voentorgs, at a markedly higher cost than usual ones :rolleyes:

Badges worn are the general Otlitchnik,VV MVD excellent service 2nd & 1st class and the silver aiguillette...

Thanks for the photos. I was wondering where those badges would go when worn on this type of uniform - parallel to the tops of medals worn on the opposite side of the jacket. Now I just need to find the regulations on what order MVD badges are worn in. Great pictures.:thumbsup

I know that the "parade" cord would be the standard white.
I referred to the uniform in this post as an "honor guard" uniform simply because the non-officer uniforms that I have seen, and which have had the gold aiguillette under the shoulder board, have all been in photos of members of an honor guard (such as the KGB honor guard at Lenin's tomb).
I don't know for certain that that is what this uniform is, but it's the closest description based on the presence of the cord.

By the way, this cord does indeed have the gold-colored metal "nozzle" at the end of it, it simply was hidden in the photos.

Well the wear of the golden aiguillette by Enlisted Men was observed at the Honor guard at Lenin's tomb and at the honor guard of the Berlin's Brigade in Germany.
But generally EM wear the silver aiguillette on the the pics (as well in the soviet honor guard units army,air force & navy).Only the officers commanding each detachment wear the golden aiguillette (not the same as the 1 on your uniform but a double one).
Considering your uniform I'd say it looks like a dembel configuration : plain maroon shoulder boards with metal BB cyphers,VLKSM pin on self made background star and the aiguillette.
I nevertheless some doubts and think it is an Ukrainian "montage"...The yellow aiguillette looks too brand new and does not seem to have the metallic wire look of real soviet ones...Furthermore real soviet dembel jackets wear special dembel aiguillettes of white color and are much more embellished with self made decoration....But it is only my opinion...

I have had various dembel jackets.
The fact that this one does not have a lot of embellishment is one reason I thought that it was unlikely a dembel piece.
As for the aiguillette...it is not at all new. The problem is that the photo was very heavily lit in order to take the photo. That makes the aiguillette look like bright, new gold. It is not. One of the first who posted in this thread stated that the color on the tabs was wrong for MVD. In the photo the tabls look like a bright army red, when in actuality they are the darker brick red of MVD.
The light had the same efect on the aiguillette
But, if it is a dembel uniform, I have no problem at all.
At $100 for the tunic, with awards, the breeches, and the cap, I'm still quite pleased!
