I noticed that both Gagarin and Tereshkova have what looks like a Hero of Socialist Labour star, on a triangular suspension. I've never seen this one before. I was curious to know what medal these are?
Kind Regards, Shane Cook. |

I think that this is the medal for "National Hero of the Italian Republic". I can check in 10 days or so (it's on one of my stamps).

Photos
All-
Just came across this photo of 'Comrade Molotov' in his full 'get up'. Pretty impressive- HSL, four Lenins, Honor Order, Defense of Moscow, Victory Over Germany, Labor Victory, and 800 Years of Moscow. Interesting to note is that the Lenins are mounted separately, then the last four are mounted together, and the Honor Order is by itself! Also note the very un-regulation (and very ugly!) tie! --Dave |

She is (was:( ) Maria Pavlovna CheChenovna, Pilot-Bombadir. Please look at http://www.airforce.ru/staff/who_is_who/index.htm I can barely translate from Russian:confused: Tal

Hi
What is the ribbon above the GPW? The pic and biography of this man is at: http://www.mondvor.narod.ru/Sol57.htm

Tal,
I am not sure but it may be for wounds. I believe there were two colors, one for a minor wound and one for a serious wound. They were early WWII and were worn above wearers right pocket. Happy hunting, Thanks,Al |

Tal,
Al is correct. They are wound strips. Take care, Ed |
