Thanks Gents. It looked too nice and shiney. But is this what an original should (roughly) look like? And is the huge size about right? Just curious.

seller
eric,
this seller has gone by many names, but they all lead back to Doubledecker Auctions....this is just a new branch name for them, but you can tell by the write ups, photos, etc. They have a very poor reputation and are known to sell huge numbers of fake items (take a look at the fake M1940 white marshal that they have had for a few years for sale). I wondered about all the "rare" stuff they have for sale on E. Most of the stuff I've never seen but that fake, chemically applied patina I thought I recognized.
Thanks for confirming that. I don't think I'll get sued for slander if I say "be wary of buying stuff from badge_heritage on eBay"

Re: Cap Badges
I would like to resume this topic to speak about the adrian's star. We have shown a fake but no originals, so if anyone has one reference photo, please share!. Also I would like to discuss some I have found online.
#1 This was bought from DoubleDec. and I am not not miss something is equal to the one posted by Eric one year ago. :thumbsdown ?? helmet0009_1.jpg #2 Another one I have found, a little bit more lived and beated up but that reminds the one above. What do you think? Immagine 007.jpg #3 Now.. Found this on a russian forum.. is this a good one? bbbbbbb.jpg

Re: Cap Badges
Marco,
Great photos, thanks for posting. I agree, your photo #1 is idenitcal to the DDA one posted last year and I for one would not be comfortable dealing with it. The others I'd like to see in person, but as of now I would not have a major problem with #3 and #4 (others may disagree); I'm not a big fan of helmets, but this was a great looking design! Pick up 'Russian Helmets: From Kaska to Stalshlyem 1916-2001' by Robert Clawson (he also has a website where he does updates and corrections). Bender Publishing has it on sale right now for under $20 I think. DougD |

Naval Cap badge??
This was up for auction recently...offered as 1930's Red Navy cap badge, but I have to say I have never seen anything like it (not that that means much)...real? non-soviet? custom made?

Re: Cap Badges
Perhaps marines?
Come to think of it, did they have marines in the 30s? :o |

Re: Cap Badges
It is a 1934 34MM pattern star with a mid-late 1930s anchor (less the wire chain) from a Naval officer's visor cap "crab".
Obviously not "regulation", but I would not be surprised if it were actually fashioned during the period by some creative Soviet seaman... |
