Matthias,
Over 2,500,000 Red Stars were awarded during the war or right after for war-time events. I hope this helps, Ed |

These numbers are definately right. I am sure Ed will back me up on that. I think it all depended on the recipient's unit/location. Unfortunately I haven't cross referenced the numbers against unit/location, but I doubt there would be any trends with such a small number. I might try it sometime but there are other far more qualified!
There is a 3 million 1945 award there. It was to a Lithuanian but other than that don't ask me... bye McL |

Thanks Ed (and everyone else). Weird. I can't shake that I read something of signifigance occured in the one millions. Maybe it was the cutoff for most those actually awarded DURING the war? Ah well.

Matthais,
I do not know of any significance for the 1,000,000 number cut off. I've seen plenty of 2,500,000 range Red Stars awarded during the war. Take care, Ed |

NEVER saw this kond of inscription on an order!
The document looks exactly as it should be. I wonder if te gut at Monetny Dvor was 'carried away" with the rotating tool and the "D" just wasn't enogh for him...

I've never seen that before either. But the style of the serial numbers is a correct style that you see in late wartime and post war issues. I know that I recognize hand writing from the same person in order books and you can recognize the engraving style of individual people if you see enough examples. Does the numbering look familar to others as well? Or am I just crazy? :D
Take care, Ed |

Gentlemen,
I believe the booklet is legit, and so is the number on the Red Star, but I don't think the "Duplicate" was done at the mint. Could it be that the recipient had it engraved on his own initiative? Alexei |

The Red Star Serial number list is very useful. Perhaps we could update it by posting scans from our order books on this thread?
here's one for starters Note the person writing out the award book made a mistake and put an extra zero in after the first digit. |
