ok, so I went and looked at Alex F. website and he has one numbered 15,683 with photos. While the end of the screwpost looks similar, the rest of the back doesn't.

Either this is a new variation or a fake. Here is why.

While the mint mark is curved down like stated in Alex's table, photo comparision of the mint marks show they are very different. The star in question has the two lines of the mint marks closer together and closer to the screw post. It is also a deeper stamp than the one Alex has on file. The deeper stamp is mostlikely the result of being stamped on top of the solder.

Second, the number 2 in the star in question seems stylized and of a way different hand writing than Alex's star. Now I understand that there are 3,000 stars between the two but still, it a huge difference. We have seen MzPP stars that have very similar handwriting that span that many and more.

Finally, the screw post is different and extra solder around the base seems way too messy for such a low numbered order. Would that have been allowed?

I would like to say it was a new variation but that might be the call of others.

Hmm, maybe I should dig out my Red Stars... It was the only award I didn't feel like selling a few years back.

I don't have anything too rare but allot starting at about 18k mark...

I too would like to determine if Nr. 12107 is indeed authentic and not a reproduction. I would be willing to contact Mr. Filer personally on this matter, and would be willing to report the results of our discussion. . .

Jeff, I obtained these over the past year or two. . .
Bill,

Can you provide a very hi-res shot of the space above the number? To my eye, I can see a MZPP number 2 in that space. Also the placement of the mint mark and the sad look of the screwpost base make me believe you have a fake. I hope I am wrong.

WHAT A COMEDIAN!!! Would you be so kind as to clarify "allot starting at about 18k". Do you mean you have a lot around the 18k mark OR alot and your lowest number is around the 18k mark.

Guys,

What are you all about?!?

Here are a few stars from that serial range, and they are quite similar. The screwpost is not as neatly soldered as on most others, but it still looks like a Mondvor job to me.

So is it a new variation for Alex F to add to his table? Marc, you need to be sharing these photos with Alex and others so the gaps can be filled in.

Added to that line above, someone's got a fake or did they make stars at Monety Dvor before they finished at Mondvor? Your star has a different mint mark and is a higher number.

Yours says "мондвор двор" instead of just "мондвор". Alex doesn't even show that as a major type.

This is getting confusing.

Jeff,

What new variation are you talking about ?!? This is nothing new, and Alex already knows about the stars I am showing.
