Thanks for this. While it is disturbing to see the mammoth pi**ing contest that can often take place, it is always good to see evidence emerge for what some say isn't "true". All of us should be always learning, whether we like to admit to this state or not. Those who have stopped learning are simply dead.

I found this old shot, circa 2000, that shows a real (and rare!) M1943 parade dress generals uniform (Engineering or Signals) on left, and a theater made reproduction on right (Rifles). Not really difficult to see the differences! The belt on the theater uniform is real, just added by me for the photo.

When I got in that uniform it came along with two others, of same construction, that had been in a theater. The guy who brought them over thought they were real. There have been some very nice 'finds' in movie houses and theaters, though condition can often be a problem (see my restoration project!). DougD |

Look at the shiny buttons and the "super stamp". It's a gimnasterka of a major of medical troops. |

And it even seems, that altough it has original m58 shoulderboards, it is not a 60's gimnastiorka restamped, but a repro with very late buttons...
