Number Range Lenin T5V1
Contrary to McDaniel my Lenin Type 5 V1 has # 19183 awarded to Antonina Alexandrovna Semenova on 1. July 1944. Came with booklet but without photo.
This one was obviously not observed. regards, Dietrich |

Odd Stamp?
redstar,
did you refer in the last post to the stamp in the booklet I posted? If so, I would like to know what you think is odd about this so can provide a better picture for more intensive investigation and clarification. regards, Dietrich |

Dietrich,
I believe your stamp is perfectly OK. Such stamps were often used in the 1940s and earlier. Alexei |

Hi Alexei,
that's what I thought, too. Thanks for your input! What do you make of the recipient. Any way to find out wether military or civil? Dietrich |

These Orders of Lenin are Type 6's. The one on the left bears a "Leningradski Monetny Dvor" mint mark, and the one on the right has a "Monetny Dvor" mark.
The portrait of Lenin on the right seems more sculpted and rounded. Examing the main gold piece, it seems that the die has also been re-tooled; the reverse has a more pronounced lip along the portrait ring and the wreath border, and the surface is smoother, no "frosting". The serial number of this piece is in the 440XXX range - the one on the left is 209XXX. Any comments? This seems to be the most prevalent style ... The corner where the wheat grains and the stalks meet on the lower left of the wreath is not as notched differently. Doesn't look like a defect (e.g. misaligned die), just the way the grains were sculpted ... |

you're 100% exact Ibaya, and this variation exist for both lningradskii and moskovskii fabrics. Se on www.mondvor.narod.ru: they call the pointed-bearbed lenin "evil lenin" and the detailed one "gentle lenin"!

Document for Tractor Lenin
I am not sure about the award itself - as I haven't seen real one - but document looks very suspicios to me. How's it possible to get the document wet right in the middle where the serial number is, making SN and the name of the recepient almost impossible to see? William |
