Another suggestion, take two sheets of UV-resistant plexiglas, sandwich the notes between them. Put one small nut/bolt in eack corner to draw both pieces together. Make a stand so the entire thing will stand upright. I envision a nice piece of oak with a slot routered out on top.

Maybe cut them to all the same size. Size issue solved. ;-)
But honestly, I have tried the picture corners as well but not really happy. Fortunately, the notes I collected were clean crisp versions so they stay in for the most part. However, my 10 Billion dinar bill from Yugoslavia had a little bit of age so it doesn't stay so well. I like the idea of cutting the border sheet to the size of the note. You could then sandwich that between two pieces of plexiglass like Art suggested. That would look really good and able to be seen from both sides without taking them out and getting all those messy fingerprints all over them.

Matteti,
As a banknote collector myself, I can provide you with a bit of advice here. I personally use Vario sheets, made up of mylar, which is inert on paper. There are different types: all clear or with black backing. They come as standard 8 1/2 x 11 perforated sheets to be put in almost any type of binder, with a variable number of pockets (from 1 to 5) allowing you to store notes of different sizes. They are usually available from coins/stamps/banknote dealers. Marc |

Thanks all for your ideas/suggestions. I think I will go with what I have (photo album with white inserts 12X12) and I will cut the inserts the size of each specific notes... this looks like the best custom solution.

Étienne, I don't know what you are precisely looking for but at a stamps and money collector shop you can get 2 kinds of sheets for your bindings. This is what a do. Look for the Canadian brand Uni-Safe Canada. You may found what you want.
There is the double and triple sheet.

Soviet,
This is similar to the sheets I was talking about, except that yours contain plasticizers which, in the long run, tend to break down and leak onto the paper. Marc |

Interesting. I thought these were ok. I know they sell small plastic sheet seperatly the size of one bill. Would it help if I buy those or are they also bad?

If you are really concerned with plastics leeching chemicals onto your valuables, you should always use Mylar-D. It's a special mylar that won't harm paper. Try searching for it on yahoo/google.
