Tretov:
That old piece of junk I swiped from the Eisenhower museum? I already gave that away to a hobo. Sorry.

April 11 - Day Liberation Concentration Camps
Nazi concentration camp at Buchenwald was liberated by U.S. soldiers on April 11, 1945.
Today is the Day of Liberation of Concentration Camps. Former prisoners of concentration camps and thousends of people got together in many places of the world to remember millions murdered in Nazi camps. Awards for prisoners of concentration camps and prisoners of war is a small topic of my collection. Eric |

Fascinating collection
How many countries and time periods are represented there? I only recognize 3 of the medals.

Gentleman, there is something you should know. These plastic sleeves have PVC Poly(vinyl chloride) in them and they are not the best way to store medals for long periods of time. The plastic if left in hot temperatures can develop a residue on the medal. The residue if left on the medal over time will damage it. These sleeves are good for short term storage and I use them all the time. But I put the medals in Ultra pro baseball card sleeves to help protect the medals from the PVC. The sleeve with the PVC is on the far left.

Actually, none of the ideas here are perfect archival choices. Felt gives off gas, as does wood, as does any non-archival grade mat board or paper. Furthermore any display that doesn't use UV resistant plexiglas or glass is letting light onto your awards which will fade any color over time. Double fast if your awards are exposed to any sunlight. Adhering to a museum level of archival preservation is probably unrealistic for most of us, some things that we should avoid are fairly basic or inexpensive:
1. Avoid sunlight. Even a little per day can fade ribbon/printed material. 2. Avoid non-archival quality plastics (always use Mylar-D) 3. Avoid felt backing (unless archival grade. I don't know if this is manufactured) There are many great websites with tips on conservation.. Quote:
