Order of the Red Star, Type 2/ Variation 7. Monetny Dvor Mint Mark, flared edges and no screw post base, s/n: 3354765. It is most likely a 15 year Long Service awarded in 1955. I will definitely get this one researched and see what other awards went to this person.

I wouldn't call it a "bad" surprise. It just means you've got some of that wear of the years that so many awards have. It's still an honorable piece.

I agree. It could be an old repair to wartime damage. Making it rarer than some other awards. Nice one.
