Re: Order Glory III variation?

Hi Marc

I thought the same about the punch thing, but looking at the clock face and the hole closely it alsso has sufface wear that is to the same level as the rest of the order so there is no sign that the hole has been but there afcter the award has been awarded, maybe this is just a different variation that we dont know about

just a thought

Re: Order Glory III variation?

I am certain that it is one of the following 2 things:
. someone monkeyed out with this order
. it is a technical defect
By the way, it would be nice to glance at the back too...

Re: high numbered OG III

The highest observed serial number is 813370, they don't go to 900000. Around a million were awarded, but this includes many awards that were never actually handed out. I believe many of these late glories were either wound awards related to WW2 or WW2 awards that simply weren't yet given to the recipient.

Re: high numbered OG III

ok thanks Auke

my highest is 813.024, so I take it this would make it one of the highest observed, maybe I should get it researched

Re: high numbered OG III

You could, but it is most likely unissued.

813,334 - most likely it is WW2 or unissued award

Re: high numbered OG III

Very nice guys, any idea if these were minted recently (ie in the last 30 years) or if they are true leftovers from WWII?
