There are (all things being relative) many Red Stars with these solder blobs. It doesn't mean they're fakes or in my opinion decrease their value. The blobs are a testament to wartime worksmanship.

I recently picked up this well-used and broken orphan. It sure strikes me as being of the "curved bayonet" variety, but the serial number is some 80,000 below what is listed as the low end of the range. What do you guys think?

your's is a precursor to the actual curved bayonets. While not a "true" curved bayonet, it is unique just the same.

I am up to, i think, seven of them now.

Alex doesn't show this alternate so I assume that either he doesn't feel it is a variation or has not seen one.

Either way his webpage has a link to a "true" curved bayonet.

Type 6 : Variation 7.1 is the "true" curved bayonet to view.

Maybe we should call it the T6, V7.1.-1 "half-curved, damn near there but not quite there, bayonet" variation? :D

I would like the opinion on a couple of ORS I have picked up recently. I have been collecting militaria for some time but am a relative newbie when it comes to Russian militaria. Thank you for any opinion that you may have.

J Free - they both look good to me. The second one is surely long service from the 50's; the first one is probably roughly early/mid '44 wartime, but I don't have EOW in front of me.

Both ORS are original ones. The second one is in excellent shape with nice patina.
