Re: Fake 100th anniversary of birth of V.I. Lenin, foreign version

If it has been altered --> bad!!!
If it is a Photoshopped :) picture --> the seller should take some lessons... :D

Let's wait for any info from the member! :)

Re: Fake Jubilee & Anniversary Medals

It's quite strange that so many people try to fob off such obviously crude home-made altered awards.... You would think if someone was going to try and sell a "foreigner" medal for LOADS of money they could at least get professional tools or ask a professional jeweller or the such to make the alterations for them... Simply chiselling or grinding off the lettering is only fooling the most mentally challenged of people... None of these home made alterations will taste right at all....

Re: Fake Jubilee & Anniversary Medals

Auke,

I don't like it :thumbsdown

The rays on the obverse are not right, and on the back, quite a few fine details are off (the grass as I mentioned before, soldier's equipment...).

CtahhR,

With more than 15 years of experience collecting Soviet awards, I personally wouldn't be so categorical

Re: Fake Jubilee & Anniversary Medals

A couple of times I've been caught up in the moment and bought a lot with an obvious fake in it but when the fake is the only item in the lot and it seems too good to be true then it is.... Mind you who can afford Fabregé to produce modified or fake items? when you can just grind bits off or buy lead fakes and stand well back.....:D
