60 Years KGB Badge
Gentlemen,
Opinions about this one, please? I believe the screwplate is not original. But what about the Badge itself? Any chances it's a good one? Thanks, Dolf |

The badge in these pictures has a known good provenance. It is from the estate of a national KGB chief.
There are a number of differences. It is possible that there was a better quality jubilee medal for senior KGB officers and that may account for the differences. However, if this one is an upgraded version, it doesn't have any obvious upgraded features. It is not precious metal and it doesn't have high quality enamel. In fact, it seems pretty ordinary. Even so, it seems to be of higher quality that the one you show. I don't write this to denigrate your example. I only want to show you one that I know is good. There may well be variations. My two cents, and worth every penny. Chuck |

Chuck,
Thank you for your reply. The Badge I posted a pic of is not mine, in fact it was just sold minutes ago on our favorite auction site for $109.16. I just posted the pic because I found it kind of different from other pics of this 60 Years KGB Badge I've seen. As you say, it also seemed to me pretty ordinary, either as if it is a modern replica, or at least a minor quality piece. You just confirmed my suspicions, therefore I didn't bid on it ;) Thanks again, Dolf |

Rusty,
Sorry for my ignorance on this Badges thing subject :o I didn't know there were different variations of this 60 Years of KGB Badge! I really need a good reference book on the subject, but one I can read (meaning not in Russian :( ) . Well I know there is nothing related to this translated in portuguese, so all I need is a good one in english or french. Best, Dolf |

Danny,
IMHO it's not really a copy, but rather a fantasy badge. Alexei |

I am being offered these three badges. I also have a guarantee to return. I want to pass them by you Guys first as they are worth quite a bit of money. Thanks
Now these reverses are why I have doubts. Shouldn't they be mirror-reversed with a mint mark?

Definitely fake, they should have mirror reverses and MMD or round mintmark.
