Should be gold as far as I know. On the older one-rivet versions (one rivet on the H&S I mean, four total on the order), the damn thing can sometimes come lose and rotate a bit, but it should be gold. It also has a bit of a "step" on the backside of the H&S to make it fit at that angle.

Thanks for the response! I thought it was gold, but I saw on one website that they just said it was gold plating.

It's gold, silver and palladium alloy or 375 gold.

Could a number this low have been rewarded to someone of importance?

Very nice - both of you.:thumbsup These are one of my favorite orders next to the Order of Friendship, though I like the simplicity of the former as much as the complexity of the latter.

It will be a great day when both of these can be researched since I think the citation of merits for why the orders were give will be very interesting reading from an historical perspective.

I just got off the phone with a gentleman, a native Russian who immigrated to the US in the 70s. He is sending me pictures of an Order of October Revolution, WITH DOCUMENTS, later today. He is asking $575 for it.

I will post pics as soon as I get them, got a Medal For The Defense of Moscow from him earlier today.

Any thoughts on the price, depending on the condition, number, variation of course?

ANY ADVICE AND HELP GREATLY APPRECIATED.
