Fifth, an interesting case… same document, but one crossed out and a new one issued (exact same date)but with fewer signatures.

Re: Lieutenant General Jambyn JAMYAN (1916-2007)
Finally, a 1957 document with a ton of entries from 1957 all the way to 1972. Some kind of labor document?
And that's all for now. May post some more docs later. Will also have to get the complete set out and do some matching of badges with documents and overall cataloguing. If anybody has access to SB 516, 1186 or 1507... please let me know! Still have hope to get the group more complete slowly but surely over time. Sofar, with use of multiple sources, there's been some good success but a long way to go. Last edited by Bob; 05-04-2012 at 03:20 PM. |

Here we go.
Urnukh, appreciate if you could give a hint at what that document in post 61 is for (it has a plastic wrapper around it and a piece of paper at end which some personal notes). |

The particular document is the Certificate of the Honored Soldier of the Border Troops regiment #0198 named after Marshal Choibalsan. Lt. Gen. Jamyan was bestowed the title on July 2, 1984 by the order of the Commander of the regiment major P. Sundev (Sundev later became Major General and promoted to a Commander of Border troops in 1990s). Now, the hand-writing on the back of the document. It says "45th anniversary of victory at Khalkha river. I was (J.J. which stands for Jambyn Jamyan) the Chairman of the Mongolian Defense auxiliary society. We used to organize one-month long campaigns to publicize the defense sector. On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of victory at river Khalkha, we jointly with the DOSAAF of USSR organised an auto rally from Soviet city of Ulaan-Ude to river Khalkha. Comrade Dugarsuren led the rally". Last edited by CtahhR; 05-06-2012 at 09:08 AM. |

Thanks for that, who would have thought: a rally to commemorate the Khalkhin Gol battle - sounds like a lot of fun:D

Yes! More to come... but very very fragile!
Two interesting items to "round out" the group and further attest to the importance of Jamyan. The items are not orders/medals but rather a mix of art and militaria. I'll keep you in suspense until I have them in my hands (hopefully both in one piece!). |

Re: Lieutenant General Jambyn JAMYAN (1916-2007)
Two vases:
1) With both a graphic depiction of Jamyan and a text: "Presented to comrade Jambyn Jamyan on the occasion of the 50th year birthday. Ministry of Public Security of the Mongolian People’s Republic. January 11, 1966." 2) Only text: "Presented to comrade Jambyn Jamyan on the occasion of the 60th year birthday from the Executive Committee of the Union of Peace and Friendship Organisations. January 11, 1976" Have another one coming my way which he received for his 70th birthday. It's Mongolian made porcelain which, apparently, is not very common as the industry has more or less died out in Mongolia the last 20 years or so. |
