Re: right price for Service to Motherland 3
I'm willing to part with mine (serial # 136,xxx which I bought from Shawn Caza several years ago), but not at that price. 300 CAD would be what I consider a fair price.

Re: right price for Service to Motherland 3
I don't know if this popular auction site link will show up, but to throw the net a little wider than my offer this #167K recently sold for $425 + $10 shipping:

This is also another great example of why collecting Soviet awards should not be looked at in terms of "investing. Phillip

Re: right price for Service to Motherland 3
Not unique to Soviet awards; people don't cut prices unless they must. There's simply no money in that! And "must" in the "it's costing me more to keep this than it would to take a loss" or "they're going to break my legs if I don't raise the cash" kind of way. Selling at a loss is known as "liquidation" or "capitulation" for a reason.

Where to buy good stuff for fair prices in Europe?
Hey guys,
as I read your forum for several weeks I can see more and more that you consider most of the stuff offered on e*** as bad or fake. My question is now where you can find good stuff in Europe for good prices besides e? I know Paretski, but are there other dealers with maybe better prices? Thank you for your advice |

Re: Where to buy good stuff for fair prices in Europe?
With anything it's all about being in the right place at the right time and also knowing what you are doing. I've bought things on online auctions sites that were not only real but a steal and I've bought items in real life where I have literally run away from the seller after making the purchase so they couldn't change their mind. Then you have the jokers out there that sell junk and fakes for fantasy prices. I was once in a Medal shop in York which has now closed and they had a late period Bulgarian Order "Kiril and Methodij" 3rd Class for around $150 which I will never forget (I usually pick them up for under $2) but they had a nicely under-priced Order "Glory" 3rd Class so I bought that... Like everything in this game "hit and miss". Physical auctions can be the best and worst places to buy too. At one auction I picked up a large number of militaria lots (Medals, Officers Uniforms, Edged Weapons) for little more than pennies but after all the TV shows were auction themed you couldn't get a broken plate without getting paper money out. To find the best deals you need patience, knowledge and most of all luck. There is no one answer to "where", but if anyone is looking for instant gratification they may find themselves rather disappointed when all is said and done. Be the hunter not the prey!
