I've noticed that illusion before on occasion; I think it's shadows in the groove of the engravement (word?)

Are we sure the seller even knows it a fake susp? I couldn't tell one way or the other and I've been a collector for a while now.

Eric, I had no idea either, but I don't have much experience with older suspension medals.

By the by, "engraving" is both the nominative (noun) in this case and is also the active form of the verb to engrave: "Sam is/was engraving." But if you say "Sam does engraving" you are using it as a subject modifier (noun) - What does Sam do? Engraving. ;) Wow, I've had enough grammar for this semester.:chuckle

Thank you, gentlemen. The price was right, so I took a chance. Indeed, its patina and the simple elegance of the enamel work are quite attractive.

Bill, I agree with Eric. There isn't much money in the ones without serial numbers so I don't see why anyone would go through the trouble of faking and "aging" one.

Regardless, the one you are showing is a good example of the T2V2. I have a few of them myself and like Eric said: "simple but stylish." Same goes for the the Distinguished Labor medals.

That leads me to this one. I have my reservations about the serial number and the way it isn't level, but rises on the right. The medal itself is real enough, but I just don't like even the numbers themselves. They seem a bit sloppier than regular mint work. Thoughts?
