I believe that the SOS is the very best militaria show in the U.S. and perhaps the world. Dealers and ordinary sellers come from all over the world. One word of caution. The vast majority of the items are German or Nazi. If you want to see a true fakers' paradise, look at the stuff being marketed as authentic Nazi awards and medals and related items. That stuff is put out not by cottage industry but by the boatload.
The great advantage of the show is that the Soviet decorations that are displayed can be inspected with your jeweler's loup and the quality of the restrikes and outright fakes is, as a rule, nowhere near as high as that of the Nazi stuff. The only thing that sometimes keeps me away is that the airport is so far away from the show. |

SoS
Dr Clawson,
Nice to hear from you....I believe our paths have crossed on eBay! There must be some confusion about the SoS location. The show is at the Ky Fair & Expo Ctr which is virtually walking distance from the Louisville Int'l Airport. David (wheats101) |

Boy, I was sure confused alright. I had been told that the nearest ariport was across the river from Cincinnatti! No excuse for not attending, then, except I that I have Nazi falschirmjaeger helmet fatigue. I will be there next time, though. I drove once from Ohio and it had the advantage of being a half-day's drive and the same disadvantage. It should be a quick plane trip if I can get a non-stop flight.
Thanks for setting me straight |

Perhaps you were confusing the SoS with other OVMS shows that are held in Covington, Ky which is just across the river from Cincinnati. What part of Ohio are you coming from?

Rusty,
What part of Ill are you coming from? The Fair & Expo Ctr is approx 2 to 2 1/2 hrs south of Indy. It's not a bad little drive & the venue is easy to get to (& get in and out of). David |

Rusty,
I have never made the trip between Louisville & Chicago but I am told it is about a 6 hour drive. Hope to see you there! David |
