Though I could be wrong, I would think the rank would be "Squad Medic". That is somewhat of a guess though, though a logical one.

Seems straightforward. I wonder why they didn't want to give their doctors actual officer ranks then. Perhaps it had to do with command issues. It was confusing enough I suppose to have both an officer in command and the unit comissar providing input without having a senior ranking doctor in the mix.
Not that it's a problem when the rules are well known. More than once in my career, I the colonel physician, deferred to the line lieutenant or captain to issue the commands.

Exactly. Although medical and other specialty branches like legal can command like units, they aren't considered general "commanders".

There were 7 kinds of staff in RKKA of that period:
commanding, political, technician, administration, medical, veterinary and juridical.
All have different ranks for commanders and superiors and the same for enlisted men and sergants.
